Focus Enhancements Showcases 'Summit' Wireless Surround Sound Technology (11/9/2009)

CEDIA US Expo 2009

Industry's Only 7.1 Channel, Wireless Audio Solution for Home Theater to Be Showcased in Multiple Products at CEDIA Expo

Focus Enhancements, Inc., a leading supplier of wireless audio technologies announces the commitment of home theater and speaker contract manufacturers who have recently completed the training requirements to develop wireless home theater surround sound products using Focus Enhancements' Summit wireless technology ("Summit"). The Summit wireless integrated circuit enables home audio systems to deliver high-resolution, distortion-free audio with ease, using the recently opened 5GHz UNII band spectrum. Summit wireless surround sound technology will be integrated into a variety of audio platforms including, speakers, audio video receivers, DVD players, digital televisions, game platforms, docking stations, sound bars, set top boxes and wireless audio hubs.

Last month, fifteen prominent speaker contract manufactures were trained at the Summit wireless development conference in Shenzhen, China. Many of the manufacturers in attendance provide expertise to speaker brands bringing new technologies to market. For example, Tymphany, a leading original design manufacturer (ODM) headquartered in Hong Kong, has partnered with Focus Enhancements to develop a turnkey speaker design that leverages existing Summit module partnerships making them a one stop shop for Summit enabled speakers and technology integration.

"We've evaluated several wireless speaker technologies in the past and Summit is the first solution that meets customer expectations with its ease of setup without sacrificing audio performance," said Steven F. Willenborg, Business Unit Manager, Tymphany. "Summit gives speaker designers the tools to optimize fidelity for specific cabinet configurations and multiple listening environments. This is impossible to do in the analog domain."

Completing this phase of the product launch was critical to the adoption and availability of Summit audio solutions," said Tony Parker, vice president of marketing, Focus Enhancements. "Speaker and A/V equipment brands now have direct access to multiple OEM and ODMs that can provide Summit wireless products and support, minimizing time to market and development expense."

The necessary infrastructure to deliver Summit technology to the home theater audio market is now in place and confirmed by Focus Enhancements' relationships with Hansong Technology, headquartered in Nanjing, China and Anam Electronics, a leading audio equipment ODM, to tier one companies. Hansong has developed a wireless audio hub solution, based on Summit, which will enable speaker brands to sell their speakers with Summit integrated technology as a complete bundle, supporting customer's existing A/V equipment and Anam Electronics is offering Summit technology as an integration option for Anam's audio video receivers, and other audio platforms.

Focus will be showcasing Summit wireless technologies integrated with a leading DTV brand, wireless module, wireless audio hub, AVR and Aperion Audio's Intimus® 5 series speakers at CEDIA Expo, sound room 11, building C, in Atlanta, GA, September 10 - 13, 2009.
