HAI Adds to IP-Based Product Suite with OmniTouch 5.7e Touchscreen (17/9/2009) CEDIA US Expo 2009 Home Automation, Inc. (HAI), leading manufacturer of integrated security and home automation products since 1985, announced that the OmniTouch 5.7e Touchscreen, a new addition to the HAI IP-based product suite, is now shipping. HAI's OmniTouch 5.7e (53A00-2) Touchscreen has a 5.7" viewable screen to facilitate control of lights, temperature, security, audio/video, and more. Using a full VGA screen (640x480 resolution) allows for the display of vibrant icons and crisp text, in addition to improved touch response. Ease of installation is increased with a single Ethernet connection for all communication as well as power using Power-Over-Ethernet (PoE) technology. The Touchscreens ship ready to use with HAI's new interface design, or can be fully customized. An optional Table Top Stand (53A17-1) is also available. Multiple faceplate colors are available to match any décor. The OmniTouch 5.7e can be fully customized using HAI Automation Studio (1126) customization software, including the addition of floor plans and custom images, as well as foreign language support. It also provides the ability to view supported IP cameras and control of entertainment components from an HAI Touchscreen. Analog cameras can be converted to IP streams using the HAI Camera Server (87A00-1). Utilizing the IR capability of HAI's Home Theater Extender (86A00-1), the OmniTouch 5.7e allows control of home entertainment components. The Home Theater Extender has over 300,000 built-in IR codes and a built-in IR receiver facilitate the learning of additional IR codes. This allows homeowners to press one button to turn on desired A/V components, play a DVD, close window coverings, and set the entire house to desired temperature and lighting levels for an enjoyable entertainment experience. A Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) device, such as a network switch, hub, or power injector including HAI's One Port PoE Injector (90A00-1) is required for the OmniTouch 5.7e. This product is now shipping. Additionally, an 8 Port PoE Network Switch (91A00-1 - standalone, 91A00-2, structured wiring backplate) is available. This is used to power up to seven OmniTouch 5.7e Touchscreens, or a combination of OmniTouch 5.7e's and Home Theater Extenders, PoE IP cameras, PoE Wireless Access Points, PoE Printers, and more. No configuration is required and installation is quick and easy. The 8 Port PoE Network Switch will be shipping by Q4. "The OmniTouch 5.7e greatly improves upon HAI's in-wall Touchscreen offerings," explains HAI Chief Technology Officer, Brian Yokum. "Now, dealers can completely customize in-wall Touchscreens that offer excellent clarity and tactile response. Homeowners can walk up to any 5.7e Touchscreen and adjust audio/video components throughout the house as well."
