Z-Wave Alliance Announces iPhone Apps/Interfaces and New Products (29/9/2009)

CEDIA US Expo 2009

On the second day of CEDIA 2009, the residential electronic system industry's largest event being held September 9-13 in Atlanta, the Z-Wave Alliance today announced its largest presence ever at the show with 15 companies participating, close to 350 products certified and a total of 25 new members since January.

"Z-Wave continues to dominate the residential home control market, as evidenced by our large presence at this show, continued growth in new members and yesterday's groundbreaking news regarding Z-Wave interfacing with Control4(r)," said Raoul Wijgergangs, chairman of the Z-Wave Alliance.

The Z-Wave Alliance will have a strong presence at CEDIA this year including a brand-new booth and a new location in Hall C. The booth will feature an expanded Interoperability Wall, showcasing how products from a variety of Z-Wave Alliance members work together including Black & Decker, Cooper Industries, Everspring, FortrezZ, Homemanageables, HomeScenario, Hunter Douglas, Schlage, Skyco, Somfy, Techniku, tvCompass, Universal Electronics and Wayne-Dalton. In addition, Lagotek and Sigma Designs will have pods in the booth.

There will be a number of new Z-Wave products on display from several members including Black & Decker, Somfy and TV Compass. In addition, Schlage announced two programs today that enable custom installers to add its LiNK wireless lock/home management system to their service offerings.

Another area that is seeing a lot of momentum is around Z-Wave iPhone applications and interfaces:

* There are currently two Z-Wave iPhone apps available in the Apple App Store from Schlage and Homemanageables.
* Last week, HomeSeer released an iPhone client for its popular HSTouch interface design system, a graphical interface for all HomeSeer automation systems.
* Lagotek, a developer of residential and commercial building automation systems, is launching an iPhone compatible remote access product from CEDIA that allows end-users to view and control their Lagotek system from any location that has a data connection to the web browser on the iPhone.

"We're seeing a lot of demand from installers for iPhone support," noted Mark Colegrove, director of sales and marketing for Homeseer, a provider of home control software and a member of the Z-Wave Alliance. "Integrators will appreciate the remote deployment functionality, and projects can be edited remotely and deployed to customer sites without the need for a site visit or service call."
