DMi introduces Escient Vision Control Modules for Marantz and Pronto Remotes (1/10/2009)

DMi D&M Installation Europe has introduced an IP control module for the bi-directional control of Escient Vision media players from the Marantz RC9001 and Philips TSU9600 & TSU9800 Pronto touch-screen universal remote control handsets.

Enabling the Vision OSD GUI on the Marantz and Pronto handsets provides control of the platform without having to switch on a TV; e.g. browsing the movie library without interrupting the programme being watched, or managing and listening to music files or streaming audio throughout the home without using a TV. The module also enables the browsing and viewing of photos directly on the handset, as well as the viewing and editing of Vision setup parameters.

The module is downloadable free of charge from the Escient Europe and Escient UK websites (www.escienteurope.com and www.escient.co.uk; under the Support tab). Installing the module, custom installers can enable the intuitive and user friendly Vision on screen display GUI interface on the RC9001 and Pronto handsets, providing a full 2-way control experience with the Vision platform.

Written in the latest ProntoEdit Pro editor script, the module is simply added to the remote controllers’ Pronto Project to provide the intuitive and user friendly Vision interface on the handset; the installer just has to enter the Vision server or client’s IP address to provide control of the unit from an enabled handset. (The embedded editor software module in the handsets remains available with the Vision control module installed.)

The handset GUI has the same appearance as the on screen display GUI of the Vision players. Within the module the custom installer can select which main menu items are shown, in line with the content and functionality available to the end user. The end user can alternatively control system functionality on the TV screen while the module is in one-way remote control mode; providing full control via one dedicated page with smart short cuts.

The Vision IP control module for the Marantz RC9001 and Pronto handsets enhances the end-user experience of the Vision platform, and extends the range and level of control possibilities to a level comparable with leading hi-end systems, at a fraction of the cost.

Commenting on the significance of the control module for Escient Vision, DMi Brand Director Bert Kiggen stated, “It is important for Vision to support and fully interface with the extensive remote control market represented by the RC9001 and the Pronto controllers. Providing the module free of charge, we are expanding the functionality and power of the Vision system to an extent comparable with that provided by investing a third party control system.”
