Z-Wave Interfaces with Control4 to Increase Interoperability Options in the Home Control Market (14/10/2009)

CEDIA US Expo 2009

The Z-Wave Alliance today announced that Z-Wave, the standard in wireless home control, will now interface with Control4, the leader in affordable IP-based home control and entertainment systems. This development marks a huge milestone for Z-Wave, opening the technology to the more than one million Control4(r) products on the market.

"Control4's vision is to be the operating system for the connected home," said Eric Smith, CTO for Control4. "A number of Z-Wave Alliance members have designed a Z-Wave driver for Control4 systems which allows us to expand our interoperability with additional manufacturers and ultimately expands the Control4(r) ecosystem, giving more choices to both installers and consumers."

"Z-Wave's integration with Control4 is exciting news for the CEDIA channel and a major milestone in the growth of the Z-Wave ecosystem," noted Raoul Wijgergangs, chairman of the Z-Wave Alliance. "This enables installers to integrate entertainment into best-in-class home control brands and devices. Ultimately, this means a much larger selection of home control and home entertainment products for consumers."

There are more than 300 Z-Wave certified products on the market today, providing an end-to-end solution that allows the homeowner to wirelessly manage and adjust lighting, thermostats, appliances and home entertainment systems from anywhere in the world.
