ZyXEL Communications launches DMA-2500 HD media adapter (22/10/2009)

ZyXEL Communications UK Ltd (ZyXEL), a leader in networking technology and the UK subsidiary of one of the world's leading broadband solutions specialists, has launched the DMA-2500 HD media adapter. Supporting a wide range of formats, it enables you to stream digital content including movies, videos, images and music saved on your PC or network storage device, to your home stereo and high-definition TV.

High Definition

Although most new TVs are "HD-ready" (720p) or "full HD" (1,080p), many households still require a relevant signal source. However, thanks to the DMA-2500, high definition is finding its way into the living room. The DMA-2500 supports HDMI and SPDIF digital-to-digital direct output. HDMI allows a pure digital connection for both video and audio signals using a single cable, while SPDIF transmits audio from the digital media adapter to your stereo system for high-quality surround playback.

Network Connectivity

The ZyXEL DMA-2500 is easily connected to an existing network using a Fast Ethernet cable. Wireless connection is also possible using ZyXEL's NWD-211AN or NWD-270N WLAN USB client. Due to the adapter's integrated DLNA 1.5 support, data held on networked storage devices is easily accessed. The same applies to files stored in a network PC. In addition, USB functionality allows a memory stick or a relevant CPU to also be used as a data source.

Video Codecs

The ZyXEL DMA-2500 supports all major media formats for music, images and videos meaning that users can enjoy and access digital content without the hassle of having to convert file formats. In addition to standard formats, such as avi, wmv and mpg, the mkv Matroska Container Format is also supported. Furthermore, ISO files and DVD directories are recognised, which provide access to DVD menu structures and sub-titles. Audio and Photo PlaybackMP3, MPEG1/2/4, WMA, WAV, OGG and FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) formats are all supported by the DMA-2500. Digital images can be played back individually or as a slide show. The products powerful CPU quickly displays file overviews and images without any time lag.
