ISE 2010 offers Audio Demonstration Rooms (27/10/2009)

Newly built rooms at Amsterdam RAI will add a new dimension for exhibitors and visitors alike

Integrated Systems Europe will offer Audio Demonstration Rooms for the first time at its 2010 event, the show’s organiser, Integrated Systems Events, has announced. Located in the upper floors of the Amsterdam RAI’s stunning new Elicium building, the rooms will give exhibitors the chance to show the latest in audio technology in a controlled, invitation-only environment, while visitors will have the opportunity to hear sound at higher levels than has previously been possible at ISE.

Commenting on this latest addition to ISE’s offering for the AV industry, Mike Blackman, Managing Director, Integrated Systems Events, says: “ISE prides itself on being a ‘quiet’ show where attendees can talk business without whizz-bang distractions competing with high-volumelevel audiosound. But we have been aware for some time that many of our audio exhibitors would like to be able to demonstrate their systems at higher sound levels than our show floor policy permits.

“We have been working with the Amsterdam RAI to come up with a solution that meets these companies’ needs, and I am delighted that the upper floors of the Elicium are now ready for use and available to exhibitors at ISE 2010.”

Available in a range of sizes from 27 to 40 square metres, all 12 rooms are fully sound-proofed and air-conditioned. They are easily accessed from Hall 12 of ISE, which is itself centrally positioned and acts as the main attendee artery between the two ‘halves’ of the RAI. The rooms are located on three floors, each of which has a light, airy central breakout area with wayfinding digital signage, furniture, and superb Amsterdam views.

While the rooms will have obvious appeal to manufacturers in the commercial sector who offer large-scale loudspeakers, Blackman believes they will also be sought-after by companies in the residential sector.

“Audio demo rooms have been a big feature of InfoComm shows in the US, where they allow consultants and contractors to assess the sound quality of new commercial audio products in a very precise way. But these days, the sound levels of home theatres are equal to, if not greater than, those of some public spaces. So, whether an ISE attendee’s interest is in commercial installation, rental and staging, or home theatre, we believe our audio demo rooms will have something to offer them.”
