Lutron appoints new VP of Sales for Europe and Africa (15/3/2010)

Lutron, experts in light control, has appointed Mr Diederik de Stoppelaar as the new Vice President of Sales Europe and Africa.

With a wealth of experience in major lighting companies that spans 25 years, Mr de Stoppelaar will be focusing his efforts on increasing Lutron’s market share still further in existing markets and developing new areas of opportunity. He will be putting his personal motto into good practice at Lutron: “at the beginning of the day it is all about vision. At the end of the day it is all about the courage to execute it.”

Mr de Stoppelaar has taken on a range of sales, marketing and management roles for Philips Lighting in France, Germany and the US, Thorn Lighting/Zumtobel Lighting Division in the UK, as well as running electronics and interiors companies in the UK, Netherlands and Russia. Up until the present day, he has been involved in a range of interim management and consultancy projects, including advising private equity companies on investment opportunities in Europe.

Commenting on his new position, Mr de Stoppelaar says: “As market leader in residential and commercial light control technology, Lutron already has a strong presence in the US and Europe. My role as VP of sales for Europe and Africa is to ensure that the brand is reinforced in the countries where Lutron is established, and help the country managers in emerging markets to build their sales platforms with new audiences. My priority will be to capitalise on Lutron’s already strong brand equity to increase market share moving forwards.”
