Wisdom Audio Launches High-End Solution for Speaker Installation Within Concrete and Masonry Walls (25/3/2010)

The SE Enclosure is a Complete Solution for Solid-Wall Installation Designed Specifically for Wisdom’s Acclaimed and Award-Winning Sage Series Architectural Speaker Systems

Wisdom Audio, the leader in planar magnetic technologies, is proud to announce the launch and availability of its new architectural speaker mounting solution for installation within concrete and masonry walls. Made from aircraft-grade aluminum extrusion, the SE enclosure is Wisdom’s most aesthetically pleasing and best performing in-wall mounting enclosure.

“The SE enclosure is a complete solution for solid-wall installation designed specifically for our acclaimed and award-winning high-end Sage Series architectural speakers systems,” said Mark Glazier, Wisdom Audio president. “As a result of listening to our dealers and distributors, we have created a purpose-designed enclosure for our in-walls, specifically for use in concrete or brick wall construction common in Europe, as well as higher-end homes here in the U.S. and Canada.”

Sage Series in-wall speakers (with its integral aluminum back boxes) are mounted via screws into the aircraft-grade aluminum extrusion SE enclosure. The unique flexible rubber-magnetic mounting system then allows for an ultra-thin, stainless steel grill to conform to variations in wall surfaces. An included tool is used to obtain a uniform grill distance from the wall’s surface. The grill ultimately floats above the wall surface, eliminating the need for a bezel, thus yielding a clean, ultramodern appearance.

Additional SE enclosure features include end caps with punch outs for cable terminations, and adjustable mounting flanges for flexibility in attachment to concrete forms.

“Adding this unique, elegant architectural mounting option comes as a direct result from our partners and customers who have asked for additional solutions that can achieve the highest level of performance where in-wall speakers are desired in historically difficult or impossible architectural situations,” added Glazier. “Until now, installers have not had access to a refined, turnkey solution for installation in concrete and masonry walls. Dealers and clients have had to make a choice between true high performance and ultimate speaker placement. With Wisdom Audio's new SE enclosure, they finally can have both.”

Wisdom Audio has brought to market more than 20 Sage Series models, encompassing in-wall, on-wall, and freestanding versions of most configurations ranging from 20 inches to 76 inches tall. Sage Series speakers incorporate new generation proprietary thin film planar magnetic drivers which allow for its narrow and shallow physical characteristics, thus permitting the unprecedented possibility of the same driver complement and back box to be used for such varied applications, ranging from in-wall to freestanding.

“Wisdom has designed each in-wall system from the ground up and has not left the mounting solution to chance,” Glazier concluded. “The mounting solution is not for convenience only, but also adds to the total performance package of the speaker itself. Our state-of-the-art cabinet and enclosure designs are designed to ensure each Wisdom in-wall speaker performs as it was intended, and doesn’t let its performance be dictated by the environmental limitations of the home’s design.”
