CEDIA Home Technology Event Hosts Designing Interiors with Technology Conference (6/4/2010) Following the huge success of its first education conference dedicated to interior designers at last year’s CEDIA Expo, CEDIA (the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association) has announced that this year’s Home Technology Event will also host training sessions for this important audience under the “Designing Interiors with Technology” banner at the show. Over 110 design professionals made the trip to ExCeL for the first “Designing Interiors with Technology” conference, with another 50 designers attending the same event when it was held at the Decorex trade show in September. At the Home Technology Event, the 2010 conference will follow a similar format with revised content to ensure maximum relevance and value to the interior design community. It will be a free half-day education event aimed at informing designers on the benefits of including smart home technology in residential projects. It will also introduce CEDIA itself and the work of its members. The sessions will be followed by the opportunity for designers to take a guided tour of the show floor where they can meet and discuss technologies face-to-face with exhibitors. Details of the programme will soon be finalised and released together with information on how CEDIA members can get involved to support the conference. The event will be sponsored by Decorex, idFX and the BIID (British Institute of Interior Design). “Outreach towards the interior design community is massively important for CEDIA members”, comments Gary Lewis, CEDIA Outreach Chair and Director of Future Systems. “The first conference held at last year’s CEDIA Expo proved an excellent achievement in attracting this audience to the show. We are confident that, with a refreshed programme and a re-branded show, we can once again educate designers about our industry and bring them to ExCeL to learn and see our industry at first hand”.
