AV Racks Launches CoolRacks Brand of Heat Management Solutions (26/4/2010)

AV Racks is launching a completely new range of innovative cooling products for the Audio Visual Industry under the CoolRacks brand.

CoolRacks, part of the AV Racks group, has designed and developed a range of products that offer a solution to the issues of managing excess heat within an equipment rack or dedicated AV furniture.

Solution for all rack based equipment

Initially the company will launce a range of temperature controllers and cooling systems designed to fit 19” equipment racks but also has plans to introduce a range of Spot cooling and stand alone products that direct cool air at specific high temperature components. The products are highly energy efficient offering a programmable temperature range that is only activated when needed.

‘Coolracks is a natural extension to the AV racks business’ explains Chris Janes, General Manager for AV Racks. ‘Today, with equipment ranging from Sky boxes to hard drive devices commonplace in many homes, the need for cooling solution is growing and many of our customers have been asking for a cost effective product to help with this issue. These new products will benefit both audio visual and IT based systems as heat can be removed from cupboards and racks’.

The fan systems are controlled by a unique temperature controller. The controller is built into a 1U panel and features a real time digital display of the temperature within the rack that is monitored using a temperature sensor lead. The controller is programmable to activate fans at different temperatures depending on the requirement, and as such the fan systems are only switched on when the pre-programmed temperature is reached, thus reducing energy wastage and noise. A built-in temperature sensor allows the temperature controller to provide a real time display of the temperature in the rack providing a quick indication of any temperature related issues.

Efficient cooling!

The fan systems are designed and made in the UK and are supplied complete with power adaptor and connecting leads. Connection and installation is very simple and there is a choice of either 4 x 80mm fans in a 2U panel or 3 x 120mm fans in a 3U panel. The fan systems are able to move significant amounts of air with the 80mm and 120mm fan sets having a cooling capacity of 96CFM and 150CFM respectively.

The fan systems are available now in the UK through York based distributor CSE. A 1U single temperature controller has a guide retail price (inc VAT) of £170.00 and the 2U 4way fan unit is £149.00. CSE can be contacted on 01423 359054.
