Runco gains THX Certification for its latest range including the QuantumColor Q-750i and Q-750d LED projectors (4/5/2010) Runco, the leading high-end home cinema projectors brand, and the first to gain THX Certification for its projectors, has again received THX acknowledgement for its latest range – including the first LED projector THX Certification in the world! The VX-33i and VX-33d DLP models and the award-winning QuantumColor Q-750i and Q-750d LED projectors have each received THX Display certification. The goal of THX certification is to recreate the power and performance of the cinema in a home theatre. THX ensures that certified projectors perform to the rigorous standards outlined in the THX Certified Display program. THX is concerned purely with video performance here, with precise and rigorous design and testing standards: only the best video products achieve THX certification. Certification is an assurance to buyers that high-definition and standard-definition content can be projected with accurate colour, luminance levels and video processing capabilities. “We are thrilled to partner with Runco for these newest high-performance projection systems, including the world’s first THX-Certified LED projectors,” says Rick Dean, senior vice president of THX. “THX testing and certification aims to reproduce the detailed images, accurate colours and deep black levels found in the filmmaker’s studio, ensuring Runco projectors can deliver stunning visual experiences that are true to director’s vision.” Distributed exclusively in the UK by Pulse Marketing, the Runco QuantumColor™ Series Q-750i and Q-750d maximise the benefits of Runco’s new InfiniLight™ lampless LED illumination technology to provide an infinite light source that creates an energy-efficient projector with the widest colour gamut. Runco’s revolutionary Personal Color Equalizer™, allows colour adjustment that includes settings exactly matched to the definition of Hollywood’s cinematographers and the colour preferences of each individual viewer for each source. Finally, Runco Smart Color (RSC™) provides a hue compensation curve and gamut mapping that allows for lifelike, accurate flesh tones while increasing colour saturation. The Q-750i and Q-750d can also be paired with Runco’s award-winning CineWide and CineWide-with-AutoScope technology. CineWide provides uncompromised widescreen reproduction of movies originally filmed in the CinemaScope 2:35:1 format. It maintains constant vertical height on the screen just as in a movie theatre. When a viewer transitions from 1.78:1 (16:9) program material to super wide 2.35:1, the image simply gets wider while full screen height is maintained – eliminating useless black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. The Q-750i recently won a coveted Award for Best High-End Projector, from leading trade magazine Home Cinema Digest – voted for by UK dealers and installers. “This is yet another validation of the quality of the latest Runco range of home cinema projectors,” comments Mike Beatty of Pulse Marketing. “UK consumers now have yet another reason to choose Runco projectors over lesser competitors, and we’re delighted that our dealers can now mention THX when selling the new range.” The Runco VideoXtreme™ VX-33i and VX-33d home cinema projectors feature the most advanced display technology, featuring an ingeniously-engineered 3-chip DLP light engine with 1080p SuperOnyx™ DMD™, and Runco-proprietary Vivix™ video processing and scaling to create a truly enveloping and realistic experience. Utilising proprietary O-Path™ technology and Imaging Science Foundation (ISF™) exacting calibration standards, Runco ensures that light is efficiently culminated in the VX-33i and VX-33d to project ultra-high resolution and brightness – making the VX-33i and VX-33d the perfect projectors to complement even the largest projection screens.
