Denon offers 3D audio and video experience with new AVR-1911 and AVR-1611 receivers (18/5/2010) Denon has unveiled the first products in its new range of advanced audio/video receivers and both are 3D compatible. The seven channel AVR-1911 and the five channel AVR-1611 build on their multi award-winning predecessors, and come with a wide variety of enhancements at the same attractive price points. Fully prepared for the latest technology, the two newcomers feature full 3D video connectivity and 3D surround sound options. In addition, the new machines provide a wealth of superior AV receiver features, including HDMI conversion, clear-cut on-screen displays and straightforward user operation. As with previous select Denon components the two new receivers have received extensive sound tuning at Denon’s UK listening facility. One of the most significant enhancements applied to all Denon’s latest receivers is the inclusion of HDMI v1.4a repeater inputs with 3D (all mandated formats), Audio Return Channel (ARC) and CEC (Consumer Electronics Control). The AVR-1911 and AVR-1611 support not only Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio and other HD Audio formats, but also Dolby Pro Logic IIz for enhanced vertical and horizontal spatial performance at the front – the essence of 3D acoustics complementing the excitement of 3D video. Adding to the simplicity of use, both newcomers feature analogue-to-HDMI conversion and support simple-one-cable HDMI connections including the new Audio Return Channel (ARC) option. Until now, if you wanted to enjoy surround sound from a TV, you needed to use an optical digital cable or coaxial digital cable to bring sound from the TV to the AV receiver. The new Denon models support ARC functionality for total ease-of-use. Both models feature an updated, easy-to-use On-Screen Display (OSD) that significantly simplifies the steps required during system setup, operation and displaying other important information. Notably, the models all feature OSD via the HDMI connection – eliminating the frustrating necessity of additional cable switching or programming interruptions when making adjustments while watching HD content. Further enhancing ease-of-use, all models have Source/Quick Select Power On and Quick Select options on the front panel and remote control to give one button source, surround mode selection. In addition to the seven channel amplifier section, the AVR-1911 offers further valuable step-up features, such as high-bit 1080p upconversion through an advanced Anchor Bay Technologies chipset, giving sharp, high-definition pictures from DVD and other standard video sources. The GLO-key remote control unit is easy to use in dark surroundings, maximising home cinema comfort. Fulfilling the user’s lifestyle requirements, the AVR•1911 comes with a front panel USB port that features iPod/iPhone Digital Direct playback function (via the regular cable provided with the players). Digital signals from the iPod are transmitted to the AVR-1911 where they pass through the compressed audio restorer and are processed by advanced audio circuitry to produce a clean, high quality sound.
