IFA expects significant growth for its 50th edition (13/7/2010)

IFA sets global trends - innovative CE worlds: IFA iZone and IFA eLibrary - IFA TecWatch: a new location, now with E-Haus 2.0 - top UK band The Kooks to open the show

IFA's organisers expect all areas at this year's 50th IFA edition to experience further significant growth. Messe Berlin is to announce a list of leading exhibitors with major new names.

Companies at IFA achieve success through innovation

IFA is the global stage for showcasing product firsts. The organisers expect a high level of demand from the industry and retailers at IFA that will match last year's performance.

Dr. Rainer Hecker, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Gesellschaft für Unterhaltungs- und Kommunikationselektronik (gfu), the organisers of IFA: "The industry's innovations attract considerable attention and demand from consumers. IFA's concept is tailored to suit the global markets and supports the needs of the industry and retailers in a unique way."

New CE worlds: IFA iZone and IFA eLibrary

Two new theme areas, IFA iZone and IFA eLibrary, are attracting large numbers of exhibitors. "This year's IFA is taking new product worlds on board yet again. The amount of industry and media attention they have attracted is a positive surprise. These new sections will be very popular with the general public", said IFA Director Jens Heithecker.

IFA iZone has the entire range of Apple products and Mac applications on display. New media worlds featuring eBooks and tablet PCs will be on show at IFA eLibrary. The following companies have already registered to exhibit at IFA iZone: Aerielle Technologies, Artwizz, Bling My Thing, booq, B&W Group, Carl Zeiss, coresystems, falkemedia, iFrogz Europe, iSkin, Kaspersky Labs, Pioneer, Radio.fx, Scosche Industries, Soular, Tobit, Trexta and Yamaha.

IFA TecWatch - a new location, now with E-Haus 2.0

Located centrally in Hall 8.1 this year, IFA TecWatch represents an interface between public research institutions and the industry, and puts a focus on universities, joint projects and standards organisations at IFA grounds. IFA TecWatch topics include 3D TV, interactivity, green technologies and E-Haus 2.0 from ZVEH. This project demonstrates a fully networked home, which features a heating system with an integrated TV screen, as well as solar roof panels and a charging station for an electrically powered Tesla Roadster in the garage. A special show entitled "das E-Haus" will demonstrate how a 2.0 version of the home works.

Entertainment in the IFA Summer Garden - The Kooks , Scooter & TOGGO

Sponsored by rbb Radio Eins and the music magazine unclesally*s, the IFA opening concert with the successful UK band The Kooks will take place on 2 September 2010 in the Summer Garden on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. Inside In/Inside Out, the debut album of this four-man indie band from Brighton sold a sensational two million copies, went double platinum and made it to second spot in the UK charts.

SCOOTER, one of Germany's most successful dance floor bands, will perform live on 4 September at IFA 2010 on the open-air stage in the Summer Garden.

For the first time this year the Cologne-based TV channel SUPER RTL will transform an entire fair hall into a colourful discovery world for families and their children. TOGGO reporter Paddy Kroetz will be there and be reporting live from IFA. Exciting games all to do with the channel's TV formats, imaginative discovery worlds, popular children's shows such as Bob the Builder, and lots of stars await children visiting IFA, both in this hall and on the weekend in the Summer Garden.

IFA is taking place from 3 - 8 September 2010 in Berlin.
