Fusion Research Allows Integrators to Add Their Own Storage to its Media Servers (2/9/2010)

Media server manufacturer Fusion Research, distributed in the UK by Habitech, is offering systems integrators the ability to add their own storage to Fusion systems in order to increase capacity. Rather than compelling integrators to purchase extremely pricey proprietary storage, Fusion sells a license to add a server, which includes a 40% margin for integrators. They can then add their own storage tower for example, for a fraction of the cost of an equivalent capacity proprietary unit, resulting in the cheapest method of adding storage in the industry.

Fusion media servers all include Blu-ray support and are available in different configurations to suit requirements and budgets, ranging from the entry-level Studio Movie Server that has a single player for up to two zones, the Genesis and Genny that support video, music and photos and up to four players for five independent zones, and the Cinema Server which can be configured to serve up to 25 independent zones with up to 18TB of internal storage included.

Fusion Research is also one of the very few companies to do a direct copy of the DVD and use a licensed CSS decoder to playback the movie (just like a DVD player). This makes it extremely easy for consumers: all they need to do is load a DVD into the media server and hit the import button! Fusion hosts its own database (with over 50,000 titles and growing daily), so should the user have any difficulty loading a disc, they can contact Fusion directly for help to get their disc loaded quickly, rather than having to wait for updates. For integration, Fusion Research is the only video server company to have a certified two-way driver for the Control4 automation system. The driver only takes minutes to configure, and full cover art and metadata are automatically ported over to the Control4 touchpanels and screens.
