Epson launches the EH-R4000 and EH-R2000 home cinema projectors with new 3LCD Reflective panel technology (2/9/2010)

Epson® has launched the EH-R4000 and EH-R2000, two ultra-high-quality, Full HD projectors for discerning home cinema enthusiasts. They feature the new Epson 3LCD Reflective panel technology to offer an enhanced immersive cinematic experience.

Reflective technology builds on the established 3LCD system, helping Epson achieve new highs in dynamic contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 for the EH-R4000 and 500,000:1 for the EH-R2000. This produces deeper blacks and brighter whites while giving richness to the colours, making them lush and lifelike across the spectrum for the ultimate viewing experience. Epson 3LCD Reflective technology also offers a finer gradation of colours and wide colour gamut.

3LCD Reflective technology is not only quicker but smoother, boasting an ultra-fast response time which enables the capture of even the fastest of moving images and reduces blur. Epson has also increased the aperture ratio which significantly reduces the inter-pixel spacing, lessening the “screen door” effect.

The Epson HD projectors also boast a Hollywood Quality Video processor which delivers the best Full HD images available, so every detail is perfectly resolved, even in dark scenes. Further picture-enhancing features include frame interpolation for smooth motion and fluid action sequences; a ‘super-resolution’ feature which increases the quality of standard definition sources, such as DVDs; and five different colour modes to suit a variety of environments.

With a motorised zoom and lens with the widest shift range in its class, set-up is easy and offers unsurpassed flexibility. The EH-R4000 can be controlled over a network, and both projectors can operate other equipment, such as Blu-ray players, from the remote. The Epson HD projectors also feature trigger-out functions to power equipment such as electronic screens for the true home cinema devotee. This enables control of a whole cinema room from just one remote.

Alexandre Di Caro, product manager for home cinema projectors at Epson Europe, says: “We are setting a new benchmark for outstanding picture quality as, not only do we offer huge contrast ratios and exceptional colour; we have also improved other areas demanded by customers including the new, slick product design. In addition, we offer enhanced usability with features such as the lens position memory, so images with different ratios can be enjoyed on a 2.40:1 aspect screen for a true cinemascope experience.”

The EH-R4000 and EH-R2000 will be available from November.
