Wyrestorm Educates and Qualifies the Industry with In-house Wyrestorm Video Integrator Training (4/7/2012) As we near the end of our first year, it is with great pride but even greater modesty that within such short space of time, we have seen the Wyrestorm name and products become synonymous in the industry with reliability, innovation and quality. As this is something we continue to work hard for, we want to build on our reputation as provider of quality HD Distribution and Control solutions with the development of our new, in-house Installer Training Programme.
Our aim with the Wyrestorm Video Integrator Training is to inform and prepare industry professionals as much as possible to ensure those installing our products not only have an innate knowledge of our entire range, but also a level confidence in the technology behind it and the industry itself to install equipment to the standard of excellence demanded by clients. As Glen Harvey, Wyrestorm Training and Specification Manager, explains “training is an investment that will of course reap rewards in improved skill sets, higher productivity and confidence in attendees and increased technical competency – all of which results in faster and more cost-effective installations that ultimately lead to greater client satisfaction and a further business.” Unlike some of our competitors who are trying to make the changeover from analogue, Wyrestorm has always been digital – it’s what we know – and we have become aware that some installers, who may have considerable expertise in aerial/satellite installation or custom install of analogue equipment, lack the knowledge, skills or confidence to competently install modern digital HD distribution and control products. As such, we are also aware that some installers may have been away from the classroom for some time, so we make sure our training fills that information/skills gap by providing a relaxed training environment that positively encourages questions and clarification by the delegates, ensuring they are neither intimidated by the subject matter nor the method of study – which leads to raised confidence in their abilities and an improved retention of information learned. The training itself is modular, spanning three specific skill/experience levels – Introduction, Intermediate, and Advanced – with each level tailored to the abilities of the participant. The goal with the modular system is to ease delegates into the course, learning at a pace they are comfortable with, while also giving more experienced attendees the opportunity to choose the specific modules they want/need to study, with competence of skipped modules proved through testing or demonstration. Regardless of ability, all materials are provided and attendees will each receive a training pack containing everything they need to progress through the modules. Training sessions mix practical and theory, with seminars including a combination of short lectures, Power Point demonstrations and exercises, together with multiple-choice questioning to test knowledge. Ample time is set aside for practical application, during which attendees can master the skills necessary for effective installation of equipment through to an advanced understanding of the myriad issues involved in modern HD distribution in high end residential or commercial settings. Once each module is completed, attendees receive recognition and Wyrestorm certification, with successful completion of the full training programme resulting in being awarded an official ‘Wyrestorm Video Integrator’ Certificate and automatically becoming eligible to join our Partnership Endorsement Programme, with their details included on a Wyrestorm Authorised Installer database on our website. Initial, highly successful bespoke training sessions have already been attended by participants through our distribution partners Habitech and Invision at local venues and at our purpose built training facilities at Wyrestorm’s Swindon headquarters, with more training dates to follow. Don’t let lack of skill, technical expertise, or confidence jeopardise successful installations. The Custom Install industry moves pretty fast, if you don’t keep up you could miss out.
