Suggesting continued growth for the smart home sector, a new report from Juniper Research has estimated that there will be almost 13.5 billion smart home devices in active use by 2025, with smart entertainment devices leading growth.
The report, named ‘Smart home Devices: Business Models, Market Trends & Forecasts 2020-2025’, states that it is expected that there will be 7.4 billion active smart home devices in use by the end of this year.
The smart entertainment devices market is expected to be worth over $230 bn in 2025, taking the bulk of the revenue attributed to smart home devices.
So far, voice assistants have been prolific in consumer adoption and its capabilities are an increasingly common way to control digital entertainment devices, from smart speakers to TVs and games consoles.
The report suggests that this trend to use voice assistants means that the smart home will become increasingly dependent on discrete purchases, rather than complete smart home packages that were common in the early days of the market.
