Specialist Custom Install Distributor, AWE, is pleased to announce the launch of its Smart Home Academy, a brand new training programme aimed at a range of industry professionals, from the custom install newcomer to the veteran integrator. Alongside the existing award-winning courses already offered at AWE, a selection of new initiatives; including The Foundation Workshop and dedicated Manufacturer Training will also be offered within the AWE Smart Home Academy from September.
AWE Smart Home Academy: The Foundation Workshop - is aimed at the less experienced residential installer and so focuses on the fundamentals of custom installation. Uniquely, as well as important background and theory, there is a heavy bias towards the essential skills and knowledge required for a variety of tasks that integrators will be faced with on a regular basis in a hands on workshop. Starting with basic health and safety advice and do’s and don’ts of CI, the full day course then progresses into the practical sessions A variety of tasks await course delegates, from accurately placing an in-ceiling speaker between joists and mounting a TV bracket, to terminating and testing CAT 5/6 networking cables reliably.
AWE Smart Home Academy: Manufacturer Training – takes place once a month and gives course delegates the chance to view, hear, handle and ask questions about, the latest products from a specific AWE-distributed brand. The training kicks off with KEF and Loewe, and will feature the new KEF Ci200RR-THX in-ceiling/wall speakers and latest Loewe TV models being launched at IFA.
“Custom installation is opening up to a wider audience, and growing in popularity as many systems and technologies become more affordable,†explains Stuart Tickle, Managing Director of AWE. “This has placed it firmly on the radar of everyone from the independent electrical retailer, to electricians and satellite installers, who are looking to expand their revenue stream, which is why we have introduced the foundation workshop. At the same time, the market expansion also represents an opportunity for seasoned installers, but they must be sure to distinguish themselves by being the best at a professional installation. The AWE Smart Home Academy builds on AWE’s award-winning reputation for high quality, immersive training that gives new entrants and seasoned installers the skills they need to be as successful as possible.â€
The framework for the AWE Smart Home Academy will repeat on a month by month basis, with various courses and workshops starting on four week rotation, with an overnight stay possible for those completing consecutive courses:
