Chameleon Technology has launched a new wireless Energy Clamp designed to provide appliance-level electricity monitoring for connected homes and smart energy systems.
The battery-powered CT clamp uses Zigbee connectivity to monitor current draw from individual appliances or high-demand devices, including EV chargers, heat pumps and battery storage systems.
The solution is said to reflect growing demand for more granular energy visibility as UK electrification accelerates.
Designed to clip directly on to a live input cable, the clamp transmits real-time consumption data to compatible Zigbee platforms like Chameleon’s Gateway Business device, without requiring a dedicated power supply or engineer installation.
Kyle Brown, chief commercial officer at Chameleon Technology, said: “EV charging, electrified heating and distributed generation are changing how and when power is used.
“Tools that make this data accessible in real time can help households and organisations optimise usage, automate energy decisions and reduce costs.”
The launch reflects crossover between residential automation and energy management platforms as integrators increasingly incorporate EV charging, HVAC and battery monitoring into connected home projects.
