Meridian’s DSP technology features in 2020 LG soundbar line up

Meridian Audio’s unique digital signal processing (DSP) technologies feature in LG Electronics’ new 2020 range of soundbars.

Introduced at CES 2020, the new range of soundbars is the next step in LG and Meridian’s long-standing partnership. 

Winning two CES Innovation Awards, the new range includes the SN9YG and SN11RG models, which boast enhanced sound quality and usability. 

The flagship SN11RG model is a 7.1.4 channel system comes complete with two wireless rear speakers that deliver forward and up-firing sound with advanced signal processing technology for 360-degree acoustics. 

Delivering unique sound quality, the new models feature several of Meridian’s technologies, including Meridian Bass and Space, increasing the width and scale of the soundstage beyond the physical dimensions of the product, while also supporting stable and accurate low frequency reproduction. 


Meridian’s Image Elevation technology is also used in the new models, increasing the perceived height of the lead instrument or vocal, which is especially important for soundbars positioned underneath the screen, to create a more lifelike listening experience. 

The majority of the 2020 line up supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X for dynamic and thoroughly immersive audio. 

New AI Room Calibration is used in LG’s new soundbars to guarantee a more optimised sound that automatically tailors output to the specific characteristics of a room. Self-calibrating, these advanced models can recognise and analyse tones while accurately assessing the dimensions of a given space. 

 This combined with Meridians DSP technology means that users can enjoy realistic surround sound with clarity that mimics near-studio authenticity. 

As an extra feature, homeowners can also control compatible smart home devices from their LG soundbar using voice commands through Google Assistant, which is built into even more models for 2020.
