Sharp adds immersive audio to new TVs in Europe

Consumer technology company, Sharp is bringing DTS:X immersive sound to its next generation of TV products throughout Europe.

DTS:X for TV is a comprehensive immersive audio solution designed for single and dual-core TV SoC architectures and is fully backward compatible with all existing DTS-encoded content, including DTS:X and DTS-HD Master Audio from Blu-ray Discs and DTS Digital Surround. It also features the latest high-efficiency DTS:X immersive streaming decoder for streaming content from OTT services.

The partnership means that Sharp customers will now be able to optimise their TV’s entertainment potential and unlock more entertainment experiences.

DTS:X will be available on the new 4K Ultra HD Android TV model 70DN5EA which will be released in February. It will also feature on the recently announced EQ Android TV series which will be available from March.

Adding DTS:X to upcoming Sharp TVs will also have extra benefits to Disney+ users. DTS:X is essential to enjoy the advantages of the IMAX Enhanced Programme which has just announced a new collaboration with Disney+ to allow at-home viewers to watch 13 Marvel Studios’ films in IMAX’s Expanded Aspect Ratio.
