Magico has released a floor-standing speaker with powerful size-to-performance ratio.
The S2 advances the S3 and S5 models as a compact three-way, four-driver loudspeaker housing a next-generation driver chassis.
The chassis structure improves force distribution, suspension design and a dual-post configuration that equalises dynamic tensile wire forces.
Tested using a Polytec Laser Vibrometer, the S2’s cabinet panels draw on simulated 3D modelling to minimise diffraction.
A full-length vertical brace is integral to the S2’s extruded cabinet, yielding increased rigidity and damping strategies to prevent colouration to music.
This enclosure houses two 17.8cm bass drivers and a 12.7cm midrange unit, both featuring Gen 8 Nano-Tec cones, plus a treble unit with a diamond-coated beryllium diaphragm.
The S2 benefits from the Gen 8 Nano-Tec driver cone, consisting of an aluminium-honeycomb core sandwiched by graphene-reinforced carbon-fibre skins.
The cone’s core structure allows lower thickness, lighter weight and more effective damping to push distortion lower than before.
