ProKNX has unveiled the Aragon 2, a voice-controlled system for smart homes that works completely offline to protect the user’s privacy, with an online option for ChatGPT use.
Aragon 2 is the next generation of award-winning Aragon smart speaker, which was launched by ProKNX in January 2020. New developments of the hardware and software has markedly improved its performance speed and response sensitivity. The new assistant will also feature a selection of wake-words to choose from.
The technology developed by ProKNX allows the smart speaker to perform analysis and execution of commands locally on-device. This independence from the external internet allows for seamless control of smart devices while working completely offline, with no need for any data recording or storage.
Using machine learning and Natural Language Understanding, the smart speaker can interpret and respond to commands said in various ways. Aragon 2 performs all the actions of familiar home automation assistants without compromising the privacy of the user.
While Aragon 2 is capable of working completely offline in an isolated network, the smart speakers is also equipped to function in an online mode so that the extremely accurate ChatGPT service by OpenAI can be used.
“We are very excited about the prospect of offering our clients the online option of access ChatGPT so that they can have the best of both worlds: a private system to run their smart home automation, and the possibility to enable a trusted gateway into a highly sophisticated and accurate query answering platform,” said Jens Kastensson, CTO of ProKNX.
The Aragon 2 smart speaker with English-language capabilities will be launched at the end of January 2023, with French and German language versions available from the end of March 2023. ProKNX will also be demonstrating the new smart speaker on the KNX stand (2L400) at ISE 2023.
