Apple has announced that it will be bringing its HomePod speaker to Canada, France and Germany's shores in a bid to improve its fortunes, whilst introducing its iOS 11.4 software update.
After first being announced at last year's World Wide Developer's Conference (WWDC), Apple has finally released its latest OS update in US, UK and Australia.
The upgrade sees HomePod finally match some of its competitors when it comes to multi-room audio support. That’s because the update brings AirPlay 2 to the smart speakers, allowing HomePods everywhere to connect to other compatible speakers and play music in rooms throughout the home (whilst HomePod owners everywhere rejoice). Of course, two HomePods can also now be used for stereo pairing.
Another rumoured feature will reportedly allow users to create "shared up next," or multi-user playlists within the Apple Music platform.
AirPlay 2 will also be coming to the Alexa-powered Sonos One speaker, meaning it still will be a challenge for Apple to turn around its rumoured slow sales and stock build-up.
Meanwhile tech giant also hopes expanding the sales territory of the HomePod will boost the speaker’s fortunes, and have announced that it is due to be released in Canada, France and Germany on 18 June, 2018. As yet, there’s no word on how the speaker will be priced in these countries.
