At the beginning of August, CEDIA (the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association) returned for a second year to Mumbai, to host a training and networking event. Due to popular demand, an extra day was added to the schedule, resulting in a 5-day programme, full of a broad range of training courses, networking events and examinations. CEDIA has seen a dramatic 180% increase in membership in India over the last two years, resulting in a total of 42 CEDIA professional members. "The CEDIA event in Mumbai was a great initiative, especially for the Indian Custom Integration market” commented Sawan Nichani, a new CEDIA member and founder of MacBee. “The training was extremely well planned and executed. The content reflected changes in the ever evolving industry. I highly recommend CEDIA membership to all AV professionals. It is a great platform for people to stay up to date with best industry practice, advice and knowledge." CEDIA introduced two new sessions this year, including the Home Technology Conference and free manufacturer product training. CEDIA partnered with the Mumbai chapter of the Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID) to host a Home Technology Conference as part of the event. The conference focused on how design professionals can integrate technology into their projects. The new relationship between the IIID and CEDIA has laid down the foundations to grow a strong alliance between both associations. The manufacturer product training was hosted by the event sponsors and extremely well supported, attracting 128 attendees to the one hour slots. A total of 72 attendees participated in the nine training sessions that CEDIA offered throughout the event, with the Home Cinema Design Workshop proving the most popular. The course highlights to installers the standard they need to follow when designing and fitting a home cinema to offer a truly immersive entertainment experience. A number of installers who attended and completed the various training sessions also took certification exams in Gateway and EST2. CEDIA also held its Connect with CEDIA networking event, which saw over 100 professionals participate in active discussions and debates. This was a great platform for people to understand the market and forge strong relationships with established important players. The event was sponsored by Core Brands, Control4, Lutron, Trescent Lifestyles, Sound & Vision, Image engineering, Casadigi, Harman International and Sonance. Sponsors also benefited from the events media partners: What Hi-Fi India, Hiddenwires and Integrated Systems Europe, who supported the course.
