More big-name brands have announced their withdrawal from this year’s CEDIA Expo, planned to take place in just two weeks’ time in Indianapolis.
Over the past few days, several companies have announced they are no longer exhibiting, including Savant, Snap One, Sound United, Legrand, RTI, Samsung/Harman Luxury Audio, AudioQuest, Sonos, Sony, Elk Products, LG and Ring.
Crestron was due to make a return to CEDIA Expo this year for the first time in six years, however the company has decided to cancel their stand at the show due to Covid-19.
A LinkedIn post from the company said: “Considering the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, we’ve made the difficult decision to withdraw from this year’s CEDIA Expo. Despite our commitment to return, the wellbeing of our Crestron community is our priority. A decision to withdraw now felt like the right one for us. We look forward to sharing innovations, ideas, and reigniting relationships. We’re committed to joining you at CEDIA Expo next year with our best show ever.”
Lutron has also announced its withdrawal from the show, with Sam Chambers, senior director, residential systems at Lutron announced: “Despite several months of preparation and planning, Lutron has made the difficult decision to withdraw from CEDIA Expo 2021. This decision doesn’t come lightly and was made in the best interest of our employees, our customers, and the broader CEDIA community. Like the companies that announced their plans earlier, we, too, are concerned by the uncertainties of the Delta variant and its potential impact to families and businesses.”
With the numerous cancellations of some of the biggest names in the industry, there are now questions being asked about whether CEDIA Expo will go ahead as a physical event this year or not. With less than two weeks to go, we expect an announcement in the coming days.
