eQ-3 AG, as Europe's leading manufacturer of home control and energy management solutions (according to a market study by Berg Insight), presented its product innovations at European Utility Week in Amsterdam. Highlights of the company's appearance included the multilingual, energy-efficient heating control system MAX!, the electronic radiator thermostat type M (UK version) and the smart home system HomeMatic. eQ-3 managing director Bernd Grohmann also gave a presentation on the current trends in the smart home & metering market. One key aspect of modern energy-saving concepts is the changeover from mechanical to electronic heating thermostats, such as the new type M thermostat from eQ-3. It reduces energy costs by up to 30%, whilst also improving levels of comfort in the home with its convenient control options. And even with all of these benefits, at only £9.95 RRP (9.95 euros RRP in Germany) the type M is still cheaper than mechanical thermostats. MAX! conquers Europe With increased sales activities in Europe, eQ-3 has added convenient operation options in French, Polish, Italian and Dutch to the MAX! heating control system. Meanwhile, in Germany, the heating system is now well-established with over a million devices sold. At the trade fair, eQ-3 demonstrated how easily MAX! can be operated in a range of languages via smartphone and tablet. What's new on the smart home market Bernd Grohmann's speech “Seven sure ways to make smart homes & metering fail” as part of the Strategic Programme discussed the overall situation on the smart home & metering market and the aim to standardise the wireless protocols used. With years of market experience, he knows what is required to establish innovative smart home products among consumers. The eQ-3 HomeMatic system for intelligent house control has been a fixture of the mass market for some years. With a market share of 26%, the market research company Berg Insight sees eQ-3 AG as the clear market leader based on the number of home control systems installed. In fact, HomeMatic has double the share of the next group of providers. In order to sustain this lead in the long term, eQ-3 AG is cultivating successful collaborations with Deutsche Telekom AG, RWE, mobilcom-debitel, Conrad, ELV and the manufacturers' alliance QIVICON. www.eQ-3.de
