Mike Beatty, Managing Director Pulse Marketing has been awarded the Special Recognition accolade by CEDIA (the Custom Electrical Design and Installation Association) at this year’s CEDIA Awards. Announced at the Gala Dinner held on the 11thJuly 2014 at The Royal Naval College, London, this award recognises and celebrates the outstanding contribution of individuals within the CEDIA community.
“We are delighted to present Mike with this special award,†explains Wendy Griffiths, Executive Director of CEDIA Region 1. “He has always been a huge advocate for the industry. Throughout his career, he has given freely of his time and expertise, playing an active role in many of CEDIA’s committees, and always contributed positively and selflessly for the good of the industry. What sets him apart is his exceptional commitment to charitable causes. The way he has pulled the industry together in raising more than £70,000 to support those in need is an example to us all. â€
In 2009 Mike travelled with the charity, Edukid to visit victims of the civil war in Northern Uganda. He approached 20th Century Fox to fund a cameraman to film the Edukid project, and the movie was used to show thousands of people back home the plight of these poor children. He has since enlisted the support of people from across the residential CI sector to raise money as a group by climbing Kilimanjaro, walking 100km, taking on the Three Peaks Challenge, and running a number of marathons. To date, under the banner of his Nothing and Everything initiative, over £70,000 has so far been accumulated for causes including Edukid, the Teenage Cancer Trust, the Motor Neurone Disease Association and six others. His plan is to bring this total to £100,000.
“Being presented with such an incredible award is a huge honour and one I will never forget. It is a truly humbling experience to be so widely recognised by the Custom Install industry which is full of so many talented individuals who achieve great things every day†says Mike Beatty, Special Recognition award winner at the CEDIA Awards 2014 and Managing Director of Pulse Marketing. “I would like to thank CEDIA for its kind words and for organising such an enjoyable event.â€
Mike began work in the industry 23 years ago at an audio retailer, selling brands such as Linn, Naim and Rega to name a few, before starting his own company. CEDIA member company, Pulse Marketing, is now one of the leading home cinema specialists in the residential custom installation field.
