Pakedge Device & Software has just announced the release of a new switch. The S8Wpde 8-Port Gigabit Switch, Powered by PoE is easy-to-use and ideal for expanding an in-home network, multi-room AV setup, security, and other applications. This switch replaces the Pakedge S8W, which is being discontinued. Key benefits of the Pakedge “Powered by PoE” design include placement flexibility, and lowered project costs. What sets the S8Wpde apart from all other switches is its power source. This switch can be powered via PoE from another switch, allowing it to be placed in locations where no electrical outlets can be found, such as an attic or in areas between outlets. This makes it ideal for use in retrofit and remodeling projects, where opening up walls to run electrical wiring is not an option. The S8Wpde also provides eight gigabit data ports. One of the eight data ports is configured to accept power via PoE. An AC adapter can be used to supply power to the switch if PoE is not used, thus letting the S8Wpde be placed in areas with no nearby PoE sources. Plug-and-play features allow this switch to run without any installation of software. The S8Wpde is fully compliant with all network protocols. With compact dimensions of 7.16" W x 3.6" D x 1.4" H, the S8Wpde takes up only a portion of 1U on a wiring rack. This switch comes with a newly designed flange-mount bracket, providing easier installation than traditional, cradle-type brackets. The S8Wpde features a compact metal housing for maximum durability and easy placement on a flat surface, in a media panel, or mounted on a wall. The S8Wpde requires no fan, allowing it to run silently. This switch offers a host of reliable, integration-friendly features. The S8Wpde can automatically adjust its network speed and duplex mode with connected devices, running its ports at speeds of 10, 100, and 1000 Mbps. The S8Wpde supports auto MDI / MDI-X functionality, as well as 9K jumbo frames, providing better network performance in the form of lower latency and higher throughputs. In larger installations, each port can connect to another switch or hub. No crossover RJ-45 cables are required. Key Features & Benefits: - Can be powered by PoE or through an AC adapter - IEEE 802.3 10BASE-T, IEEE 802.3u 100BASE-TX, IEEE 802.3ab 1000BASE-T, IEEE 802.3x full duplex operation and flow control - Eight 10/100/1000Mbps RJ-45 gigabit Ethernet ports - Uplink: auto MDI/MDI-X (auto crossover) - Network speed: 10/100/1000Mbps and full/half-duplex mode auto-detection (1000 Mbps for full-duplex only) - MAC address table: 1K MAC entries - Buffer memory: 832K bits - Jumbo Frame: 9K bytes The Pakedge S8Wpde comes with a AC power adapter and user manual. www.pakedge.com
