Sharp launches its first Ultra-HD TV range in Europe. Super large screen UD20 TVs offer outstanding 4K picture quality and unrivalled sound, delivering unbelievable detail and transforming the way we experience films, sport and drama at home. UD20 TVs are one of the only 4K TV ranges to be certified by THX, the movie industry’s authority on image and sound quality.
Alberico Lissoni, President, Consumer Electronics, Sharp Europe said: “The time is right for us to bring our Ultra-HD TVs to Europe. More 4K content is available and it deserves to be played on Sharp TVs, which offer the highest standards of performance for the best viewing experience.â€
Outstanding 4K picture quality
The Ultra-HD UD20 series offers incredibly detailed picture quality thanks to 4K resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels), Sharp’s LCD UHD Rich Colour Display panel and its unique image processing technologies. THX has put the UD20 through 400 independent laboratory tests covering over 1000 data points to ensure it meets the industry’s most rigorous specifications for picture quality and accuracy.
Sharp’s new Rich Colour Display integrates a new and improved backlight system which enables more colour combinations and wider colour spectrum (23% wider than conventional TVs). Sharp’s Super High Resolution Image Engine is an upscaler which improves the signal of any type of content to as close to 4K as possible, while Local Contrast Control automatically enhances contrast pixel by pixel meaning you never miss a detail, even in dark scenes. Powerful sound is provided by built-in Yamaha AudioEngineâ„¢ technology, even from the UD20’s skinny cabinet.
Stylish design
The UD20 series offers a cinematic experience from a stylish and super-slim cabinet, with Sharp’s thinnest brushed aluminium bezel (just 10mm), so all the attention stays on screen.
Smart controls and connections
Sharp’s smart TV portal Aquos Net+ offers access to a growing selection of premium video-on-demand services, including Netflix, online video and music services, including YouTube, and a huge selection of apps.
Sharp offers smart control through the Aquos Remote Lite app, letting you control your UD20 series TV using your smartphone or tablet, using voice control (Android app only) and fully customisable gesture controls, like flip and shake.
Sharp’s UD20 series is fully connected, providing easy integration with mobile and smart devices. Thanks to Miracast and DLNA wireless streaming technology, all of the content you can play on your smartphone or tablet can easily be enjoyed on the UD20’s large screen.
Ready for the consoles and media players of the future, the UD20 series includes four HDMI inputs which can accept native 4K (3840 x 2160) signals, with HDMI 2.0, which allows up to 60 frames per second transmission.
The UD20 range will be available from September 2014 in two different sizes, 60†and 70â€.
Recommended retail price: 60†- £2700 incl. VAT; 70†- £3700 incl. VAT.
