LG Electronics has announced the market launch of its 4K OLED model, the world’s first transparent and wireless TV.
The 77” LG Signature OLED T, unveiled at CES 2024, will be available in the US in December 2024 before additional markets follow.
The TV boasts a self-lit screen that can transform from transparent to opaque at the touch of a button, providing OLED viewing while offering flexibility in living space.
The OLED T creates the illusion of content floating in mid-air when in transparent mode, avoiding any obstruction to natural light.
LG’s proprietary Zero Connect Box provides wireless video and audio transmission without latency, supporting 4K at 120Hz variable refresh rate.
Additional features include T-Objet, an Always-On-Display (AOD) mode that transforms the screen into a transparent digital canvas for artwork, videos or photos powered by LG’s advanced α (Alpha) 11 AI processor.
Meanwhile the T-Bar info-ticker appears along the bottom edge of the screen to provide sports results, IoT device statuses, weather forecasts or song title information, leaving the display backdrop clear.
T-Home offers a user-friendly interface for added convenience, delivering an overview of available services as well as apps, settings and other features.
Park Hyoung-sei, president of the Home Entertainment Company at LG, said: “[The] OLED T is an exceptional user-focused innovation that offers a distinctive, multi-faceted viewing experience and unprecedented spatial flexibility.
“LG remains at the forefront of innovation by combining its industry-leading OLED technology with unique form factors, transparent screens, wireless connectivity and more, delivering unparalleled, life-enriching advancements no other TV maker can replicate.”
Recognised globally, LG’s transparent OLED made TIME’s Best Inventions 2024 list and received five CES 2024 Innovation Awards, including a Best of Innovation honour.
