Cambridge Audio unveils all-in-one audio solution with 14 drivers

Evo One, the latest release from Cambridge Audio, is an all-in-one wireless music system that boasts 14 drivers and 700W of amplification to create a unique omni-directional audio experience.

For a wide sound dispersion and expansive soundstage, the Evo One features an array of 14 drivers – four 1-in silk dome tweeters, four 2.25-in aluminium cone mid-range, and six 2.75-in long-throw woofers – all in front-, side-, and rear-firing configurations.

It has 700W of Class D amplification power (50W (RMS) per driver for fine control), while an advanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP) has allowed for tuning Cambridge’s signature sound.

For audio personalisation, users can access the StreamMagic control app to manually tweak the sonics using a seven-band EQ. A host of presets are also available tailored to multiple music genres and TV-watching scenarios. Room optimisation features in the app enable users to adapt the sound manually to appeal to their unique living space.

The wireless system takes the hi-res streaming capabilities and musicality of the Evo 75 and Evo 150 streaming amplifiers. Its streaming ability, which allows users to listen to almost any music service, is powered by Cambridge’s 4th generation of its StreamMagic platform, also at the heart of its award-winning network players including CXN100 and MXN10.

StreamMagic enables direct streaming from Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Deezer, Qobuz, Roon Ready, UPnP and Internet Radio with support up to 32-bit/192kHz hi-res audio over Wi-Fi or Ethernet. New features and services are regularly added to improve and increase its functionality.

For maximum wireless flexibility, Evo One gives the options of Bluetooth, AirPlay 2 and Google Cast. To share music across devices all around the home, Evo One is fully compatible with Google Home, Apple AirPlay and Roon multiroom systems.

Wired connectivity options are also available; a HDMI eARC allows the Evo One to connect to a TV, a moving-magnet (MM) phono stage means a hi-fi turntable can be directly connected, and a line input enables connection from other analogue sources. An optical digital input and USB-A media socket provides further digital options.

While the StreamMagic app gives users access to all of Evo One’s functionality, the HDMI eARC connection enables simple volume control through a TV remote. A dedicated remote control is also supplied to ensure complete ease of use for any user.

Designed at Cambridge’s London music venue and HQ by Red-Dot Award-winning designer, Ged Martin, Evo One boasts a minimalist retro-modern aesthetic, featuring a real walnut veneer, making every Evo One unique.

Its innovative grille construction is inspired by natural honeycomb forms and is designed to protect the drivers while placing less mass in front of them to avoid obstructing the sound. This structure is then covered with acoustically transparent fabric that allows music to fill the room unimpeded.

Evo One features a 6.8-in colour screen display, allowing users to choose from a clock display, album artwork, track information, or virtual VU metres.

On a mission for increased sustainability, Cambridge Audio has ensured that any plastic parts include a minimum of 50% recycled material, an FSC-certified wood veneer cabinet and optimised power consumption.

This drive to create a more sustainable product builds on Cambridge’s support as Founding Donor of the eco-music charity EarthPercent, co-founded by Brian Eno.

The Evo One is available now priced at £1,299 / €1,499 / $1,499.
