Gira releases Gen2 software update for DCS app

A new Gen2 software update has been released for the Gira DCS mobile app which includes new features to all Gira door intercom systems.

The Gira DCS mobile app works with the DCS-IP gateway to communicate with a network-enabled door entry system, giving homeowners convenient access to their front door from anywhere in the world. Users are also able to communicate with the visitor via video link and even open the door remotely if they wish.

Adding user-convenience and increased security to the app-controlled door communications, the new software update enables automatic image capture. A photo is now automatically taken when the doorbell rings and is stored in the image memory bank to review at any time. The DCS app can store up to 200 photos on a smartphone to keep track of multiple new visitors.

In addition to this new feature, Gen2 also allows remote monitoring of the front doorway at any time. Users can open the app and view the live feed, without needing someone to ring the doorbell to activate the camera.

It is also no longer necessary to enter a PIN to open the door and access the building. This option can be set by the homeowner using the Gira DCS mobile app, and when used in conjunction with the Gira Keyless In-Entry System, users can gain access via a pre-programmed fingerprint reader able to manage up to 99 individual finger identifications.

Using the Gen2 mobile app, it is now possible to activate call forwarding so homeowners can decide whether new doorbell activity should be forwarded to their mobile phone or not.

The remote access facility of the DCS mobile app works in tandem with the Gira DCS-IP gateway to ensure maximum security. All data exchanged is highly encrypted so that it is kept safe from unauthorised users.
