Leviton announced the development of Decora Smart Apple HomeKit-enabled lighting control at CES 2017.
Selected Leviton HomeKit-enabled accessories will soon be able to used to control lighting and loads from Apple’s Home app or the free Decora Smart Home iOs app.
Commands including turning on or off, dimming or brightening an individual light or entire room, zone or home will be possible via app, with creating custom scenes (such as “Good Morning” or “Good Night”), automation scheduling and remote access available through the Home app. Decora Smart home furthermore provides information regarding bulb type, adjustable fade rate and minimum and maximum brightness levels.
HomeKit-enabled accessories also respond to Siri so users are able to control their lighting with their voice.
The first lighting control accessories offering HomeKit support are three lighting and load control accessories – 1000W Universal Dimmer (up to 450W LED), 600W Universal Dimmer (up to 300W LED) and 15A Universal Rocker Switch (up to 600W LED).
Leviton’s latest products can function with extremely sensitive, low-wattage light sources, such as a single LED bulb in a hallway or a strand of lights. The in-wall dimmer and rocker switches incorporate true rocker paddles, for ease of access, even in the dark. The dimmers additionally feature embedded LEDs to display the illumination level, with the LEDs concealed.
Multi-way applications of accessories in hallways or staircases (where one fixture is controlled by two devices) is supported with the Decora wiring platform. Kits in different colours options and screwless wallplates are also available.
