Lutron introduces smart wood blinds to shading solutions

Lighting and shading control company, Lutron has launched smart wood blinds to its portfolio of smart window coverings.

Marrying the style and function of bespoke wood blinds with smart home technology, the new solutions ensures homeowners automatically have the right amount of light through their Natural Light Optimisation feature.

Using the smart device’s inbuilt compass and GPS technology, the Lutron app identifies the direction of any window and automatically tilts the blind to the optimal position. Homeowners are then able to customise each blind to their taste, prioritising privacy or more light depending on the room’s use.

Smart home technology is growing throughout the world. According to Lutron, the comfort and lighting worldwide market, comprising of devices aimed at improving the atmosphere at home, is expected to more than double by 2025. The pandemic has played a big part in the upcoming growth of this market.

Lutron’s new smart wood blinds solution offers an elegant and accessible entry point to smart home automation and means that the blinds effectively never need to be touched and can be controlled through a single application.

Installers do not need to worry about wiring or any specific expertise to fit the blinds. They are powered by standard, off-the-shelf alkaline D or AA batteries, meaning that it takes less than 20 minutes per blind to install.
