CEDIA is taking its Cabling & Infrastructure Technician (CIT) certification exam to venues across the UK, aiming to make accreditation more accessible to early-career technicians.
The programme targets those entering the residential technology industry, providing a brand-neutral qualification covering foundational cabling and infrastructure knowledge.
The initiative develops the technical skills needed to install and support evolving residential systems.
The CIT certification can also support wider professional development: successful candidates gain a recognised CEDIA credential and become eligible for listing in the association’s Find a Smart Home Professional directory.
Additionally, it allows integrators to act as a Smart Home Assessor under the CEDIA Smart Home Assurance programme and qualify for the CEDIA Home Technology Integrator ECS Card.
The scheduled exam sessions are:
- October 1: Alltrade, Manchester
- November 3: CEDIA HQ, St Neots
- November 4: Habitech, Basingstoke
- November 18: Alltrade, Glasgow
- December 9: AWE, Epsom
CEDIA EMEA managing director Matt Nimmons said: “By taking the CIT exam on the road, we are making it easier for more technicians across the UK to gain a globally recognised industry credential and support the continued growth and professionalism of the sector.”
Candidates registering for an upcoming session will receive a free copy of the CEDIA CIT textbook, valued at £65. Places are limited.
