Optoma focuses on gamers with new projectors

Optoma has launched the HD29HST short throw gaming projector as part of a series of new gaming projectors being released.

HD29HST builds on the success and popularity of its predecessor, the HD29H.

With 4,000 lumens, the home entertainment projector has the convenience of a short-throw lens, ideal for small rooms, allowing users to project a 100-in image from just over a metre away.

The two HDMI inputs can connect to a laptop, PC, Blu-ray player, media streamer or games console, while switching between sources is easy with a simple touch of a button.

By connecting the unit to an HDMI dongle like the Google Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV or Apple TV, it can be turned into a smart projector and enables the user to play games, stream videos and share photos on the big screen.

For added convenience, the projector has an integrated speaker that delivers 10W audio, making it easy to transport. There is also an audio output option included, enabling connection to external sound systems.

Kishan Mistry, product manager at Optoma, said: “With a latency of just 8.4ms and the ability to accept a 1080p 120Hz signal, we developed this compact short-throw projector with gamers in mind.

“As well as the lightning refresh rate, the HDR imagery allows you to see far more detail and texture. Objects look more lifelike, and the extra detail creates a greater sense of depth.”

The projector is available now priced at £899.99 MSRP.
