Vizio has debuted a special red edition of its flagship 4K model, created in partnership with (PRODUCT) RED to raise funds for AIDS prevention.
Following its recent legal troubles, it’s nice to see Vizio give back.
Offering 2,000 nits of brightness, VIZIO’s P-Series 55-in 4K HDR smart TV has established itself as a lower cost option for those looking for 4K HDR performance outside of the LG and Sony end of the spectrum.
Featuring a red edge-to-edge screen, VIZIO (RED) offers all the same performance as its regular edition – i.e. HDR performance with support for Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG. The company’s inhouse technology, including its ‘Ultra Color Spectrum’ (supporting “over one billion colours”) and ‘UltraBright 1000’ (handling contrast, depth and brightness) technologies. Vizio’s backlight, incorporating as many as 56 local dimming zones, is also onboard to handle black levels.
Vizio SmartCast OS allows users to access apps such as Netflix and YouTube, with Chromecast also built-in. Alexa and Google Assistant integration is additionally available for controlling certain functions on the TV via voice.
Founded in 2006, non-profit organisation (RED) regularly partners with big brands (including the likes of Apple and Amazon) to raise money to prevent HIV/AIDS in Africa through the Global Fund.
The TV manufacturer affirms that “every purchase is part of VIZIO's commitment to provide over 375,000 days of life-saving HIV medication.”
How much of the price tag will go to (RED)? Vizio states that “a minimum of 10% of the purchase price” of each 55-in VIZIO P-Series (RED) TV will go to the charity when it is released in the coming month.
