The four-door Refrigerator with AI Family Hub+ is meant to act as the hub of Samsung’s growing food ecosystem, while the 3D sensor and AI processing power brings automation to the Jet Bot hoover and mop.
AI Vision Inside feature uses a smart internal camera that can recognise items being placed in and out of the refrigerator and can identify up to 33 different fresh food items based on predefined set of training data comprising approximately one million food photographs. Combining this with the food list available on the Family Hub+ screen, users can also add expiration date information to items they would like to keep track of and receive alerts on via the refrigerator.
The Flex Refrigerator with AI Family Hub+ is meant to serve as the centre piece of the company’s “food ecosystem,” being able to tie into and orchestrate specific interactions with other Samsung products and services, such as Samsung’s recipe and food planning app Samsung Food and Samsung Health.
For instance, in connecting with Samsung Health, Samsung Food can use the provided health information to suggest healthy, appropriate recipes whose instructions can then be sent to the appropriate appliance, such as the forthcoming Samsung Anyplace Induction Cooktop and Slide-in Range, which, according to Samsung, comes with a 7-in LCD screen that allows users to display recipes.
The Jet Bot Combo vacuum’s AI Object Recognition system is now able to categorise mapped areas in the home, such as a living room or kitchen, and suggest zones that it should avoid.
The algorithms can also detect stains during its cleaning cycle, and prompt the round rover to return to the Clean Station charging base to heat up the mop pads with high-temperature steam and water before returning to the location of the stain. The robovac then spins up the mops at 170 RPM.
The Cleaning Station is also where the mop pads are washed and dried between jobs, and where the Jet Bot dumps the contents of its dust bin. The automated cleaning solution also comes with an AI Floor Detect feature to lift the mops out of the way when moving from hard floors to carpets or even drop them off at the Cleaning Station to prevent cross contamination and increase the suction power for high-pile carpets.
