Samsung’s upcoming 8K projector gains industry-first certification

Samsung’s yet to be released premium projector has received the industry’s first 8K Association (8KA) certification.

The Premiere 8K, the company’s flagship projector, has received the 8K Association (8KA) certification for 8K projectors after meeting its parameters for immersive viewing.

The certification programme, recently introduced by the 8KA global consortium of companies including Google and Panasonic, evaluates the following standards: resolution (7680 x 4320), brightness, contrast, colour gamut, high dynamic range (HDR), 8K upscaling and more.

Unveiled at CES 2024, the Premiere 8K is the first projector to offer 8K wireless connectivity and uses ultra-short throw (UST) technology with advanced aspherical mirrors.

Taeyoung Son, executive vice president of visual display business at Samsung Electronics, said: “The Premiere 8K receiving the industry’s first 8KA certification is a major milestone as it officially demonstrates the new potential of projector technology.

“We are committed to expanding the 8K ecosystem by continuously and extensively integrating new technologies.”

The projector boasts 4,500 ISO Lumens of brightness and Sound-on-Screen technology that integrates the top speaker module with software algorithms.
