London-based AV specialist NV Integration recently provided an all-encompassing home theatre to a stunning newly built mansion in Bangkok, Thailand.
The homeowner specifically requested a Meridian sound system for his home theatre after developing an appreciation for the sound quality offered by the brand after installing products in his home in Kensington, London.
“The client was already well aware of Meridian, and loved the system we installed in his Kensington home,” recalls Pip Evans, director at NV Integration. “The first thing he did when we sat down to discuss the project was point at the home theatre on the plans and say ‘Meridian’.”

He continues: “We knew we needed to provide the highest quality of home theatre experience, so we used Meridian’s Design and Specification Service to help us achieve this. It gave us a clear view of where we needed to install the speakers to create the optimal home theatre, which is what we were aiming to achieve.”
The installer used these detailed design plans when presenting its initial ideas to the client in the project’s tender process. “This showed our commitment to providing the client with the best customer service, and was a contributing factor in NV Integration being appointed to the project,” adds Evans.
After being awarded the project, NV Integration set out to install three Meridian DSP7200 Special Edition loudspeakers customised in Charcoal Grey, as the left, right and centre channel speakers. The DSP7200 SEs were chosen to provide a powerful sound that could accommodate everything from loud battle scenes to quiet, subtle moments to suit whatever the homeowner wishes to watch.
Four Meridian DSW Select sub-woofers and the DSP7200 HC SE centre channel speaker were also concealed behind an acoustically invisible Screen Research 4K screen, with NV Integration also opting for a JVC 4K projector to complete the near-commercial cinema experience.
The homeowner specifically requested to have the loudspeakers on display at the front of the cinema, so the left and right channel DSP7200 SEs were positioned on either side of the screen. Acoustic treatment panels installed on the walls and a bespoke-designed carpet that reduces reflections in the room furthermore enhances the performance of the system.
Meridian DSP640 in-wall speakers were used for the side channel audio, and the DSP320 were installed into the ceiling for the rear channel. The DSP320 contains all the system’s electronics within its 300mm square and 100mm deep enclosure, including digital audio converters and two integral, powerful 80W class amplifiers for wide-range and bass drivers.
A discreet integration was essential to the client, so the grills for the in-wall and in-ceiling speakers were matched to the colour of the wall paint.
To ensure the client and his friends and family are in the utmost comfort whilst in the theatre, the installation team fitted six D-Box chairs to simulate the action on screen, helping further immerse movie-goers in the experience offered by the front, side and rear channel sound system.
