AWE first to demo IMAX Enhanced at an EU exhibition

Residential technology distributor, AWE, has announced it will deliver demos of IMAX Enhanced at EI Live!, making it the first to take place at an EU exhibition.

IMAX Enhanced is a partnership between IMAX Corporation and DTS combining high-end consumer electronics products with IMAX digitally re-mastered 4K HDR content and DTS audio technologies, to offer consumers a new level of quality in immersive sight and sound experiences for the home.

Visitors to EI Live! will get the chance to have a first-hand experience of IMAX Enhanced and find out how it is bringing immersive entertainment into the home environment.

The exclusive demo will be a main attraction at the show and will be presented in a purpose-built theatre in the AWE Village. Using its strong brand partnerships, AWE will use IMAX Enhanced certified products from Sony, Denon, and Marantz to demonstrate the new technology. Definitive Technology loudspeaker and subwoofers will also be featured to further improve the experience.

The IMAX Enhanced programme is based around four pillars: image, sound, scale and content. The demo will look at these in more detail and show how they create a different experience for home theatre.

“When we previewed IMAX Enhanced content and audio products at the AWE Expo in October last year, attendees were blown away by the experience,” comments Stuart Tickle, managing director of AWE. “We received comments such as ‘Seeing the IMAX Enhanced demo, you realise that this is a lot more than just a name. It actually changes the way you watch films!’ The IMAX Enhanced home theatre at Essential Install Live! builds on the preview that visitors enjoyed at AWE Expo and will feature an IMAX Enhanced certified, native 4K laser projector from Sony. We look forward to welcoming integrators through the demonstration.”

There will be representatives from AWE, DTS, and the brands that offer IMAX Enhanced products on hand to talk to integrators and answer any questions throughout the two-day show.

As well as the exclusive demo of IMAX Enhanced, AWE will be showing its other brands throughout the AWE Village, the biggest its ever been. AWE will have experts throughout the village to discuss the technologies on show and provide live product demonstrations.

AWE will be showing its range of the latest screens from LG, Panasonic, Samsung, and Sony. Attendees will be able to see the Sony 100-in Crystal LED screen which will take up a corner of the stand. Videotree will also be displaying its design-led screens for outdoor, wet room and concealed applications.

In the control area of the stand, URC Total Control will be the main exhibit, showing its new MRX-30 Advanced Network System Controller (quad-core processor) and the new MRX-15 Advanced System Controller (dual-core processor). The new URC TDC-9100 tabletop touchscreen controller and TKP-9600 in-wall touchscreen will also be on display. Other control solutions from Philips Hue and QMotion will also be on display.

Within the AWE Village, there will also be an Epson demo room where the Epson EH-TW9400 home cinema projector will be set up. To represent a true to life cinema room, the setup will also feature a Draper projection screen, speaker from KEF and Marantz amplification. Outside of the demo room, Epson will be showing a wider range of its projectors.

Other highlights on the AWE stand will be KEF’s custom install speaker range and the new LSX speakers, in addition to Definitive Technologies in-wall and in-ceiling speakers, and its freestanding subwoofers.

Visitors will also see a range of Denon and Marantz AV receivers and amplifiers, HEOS speakers, AVRs, soundbar and subwoofer, Sony projectors, QMotion motorised shades and Kinetik speakers and cables, including the HDBaseT CAT6 CPR Certified cable.
