‘Cabling for the Integrated Home CPD’ is a new Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training course from CEDIA for design and build professionals.
Replacing the ‘Smart Home Cabling for the Modern Home CPD’, the new course is designed to educate and guide architects, interior designers and property developers on installing a secure and futureproof cabling infrastructure for the home.
Matt Nimmons, managing director of CEDIA EMEA said: “With the growing demand for smart technology in the home, greater reliance is being placed on the complex cabling infrastructure needed to support this.
“At CEDIA, training is key,” he continued. “This new CPD is a step in the right direction for our members to add value to their professional career and strengthen their skills, as well as giving them an opportunity to connect with and build strong relationships with the design and build community.
“Our new CPD connects the theory with practicalities of the integrated home, making it a vital resource for integrators and specifiers alike.”
Starting by discussing the definition of the smart home, the ‘Cabling for the Integrated Home CPD’ goes on to explore topics including the IoT, entertainment, modern building methods, bandwidth, and smart home wiring infrastructure.
Extending knowledge to different professions in the residential industry, the CPD is accredited by The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the British Institute of Interior Design (BIID).
It will benefit building professionals by developing their understanding and performance in areas such as key vocabulary and phrases, basic design principles, what is required to cable an ‘integrated home’, key metrics/space, and when to ask for guidance or professional assistance.
As a recognised CEDIA Outreach Instructor (COI), integrators have the opportunity to present continuing education to local design and build industry partners, helping establish vital business-to-business networking contacts and raising awareness of CEDIA, its members, and the home technology industry.
The COI course content includes an introduction to the programme, a review of the available courseware, and a discussion of the rules and requirements for presenting under CEDIA’s education provider umbrella.
