Registration is now open for the first of three CEDIA Tech Summits due to be held this year, following a year of cancelled in-person events due to the global pandemic.
Free to attend, the first Tech Summit will take place on Wednesday 8 September at the Business Design Centre in London. The event will feature product displays, four presentations, networking opportunities, and a post-event reception hosted by Samsung.
The programme of four educational sessions will run throughout the day:
OneAV: The future of Communication and Smart Infrastructure
Changes in OFCOM regulations and new technologies mean that integrators can offer more services than ever before. This talk will discuss recent changes in regulations and how they impact the CI industry, what services and technologies they can now offer to the end user, and how we can effectively design infrastructure to accommodate current and future technologies. OneAV will also discuss how the 5G rollout will impact the industry as a whole and what technologies are available for improving mobile reception indoors.
L-Acoustics: The Theory and Application for Multichannel Audio Designs
Many audio manufacturers now offer a range of point-source, line-sources, or column speakers for residential applications. This session will offer a theoretical refresher on their main differences in terms of acoustics behaviour (in free-field or in a room) and their application in the context of residential multichannel audio (through a typical use-case). Attendees will also look at the practical guidelines to select the right speaker type for the right application.
Blustream: The Evolution of Technology in Video Distribution
This session will look at the competing video distribution technologies that are on the market today, what has become available recently, and what will be available in the future. Attendees will spend time looking at the different technologies and where, when, and why they might be the best solution for a project. Attendees will leave with a much better idea of what to specify for each opportunity and will understand that this is not a battle and competing video distribution technologies all have a place.
AWE: Home Cinema Projector Technologies
Home cinema remains an integral part of business for many integrators. However, it’s a fast-moving space that’s increasingly subject to marketing hype and potentially misleading product claims. This is especially true with projectors. AWE will take a close look at 1080, 4K and 8K projectors and explain the differences between native 4K and 4K pixel shift. They will also examine the relative merits of lamp and laser projection technology and help attendees understand why and when they would specify an LCoS, a DLP, or a 3LCD projector.
As well as the educational programme, there will also be a small exhibition of CEDIA Trade Suppliers, with 39 sponsors already signed up. The list of sponsors exhibiting include: Alltrade, Amina, AWE Europe, Bang & Olufsen, Blustream, Cinema Build Systems, Control4, Crestron, Distributed by Meridian, Event Series Cables, Faradite, Fine Sound UK, Future Automation, Gallo Acoustics, Gecko Home Cinema, Genesis Technologies, Habitech, Hisense, IMP, Indigo Distribution, Invision, K-Array, KEF, Kordz, L-Acoustics, LG, Lightwave RF, Linn, Lithe Audio, Lutron, Mayflex, Monitor Audio, OneAV, Outsources Audio Visual, Penn Elcom, PMC, Pulse Cinemas, Samsung, and Skills4Stem.
A networking event will be held for attendees from 5pm at the Samsung KX experience space in Coal Drops Yard, London. Visitors can sign up to the Samsung Reception here.
Samsung’s European business manager, Kris Hogg, said: “We are proud to be hosting the CEDIA Tech Summit reception at our incredible Kings Cross Experience Centre. Attendees are welcome to join Samsung and CEDIA staff after the Tech Summit for drinks and nibbles. You will be able to experience the best that Samsung has to offer, not just in The Wall’s next-generation display technology, but across the whole Samsung range, whilst networking with you industry peers. It promises to be a great event!”
