CEDIA (the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association) is inviting all designers and installers to attend two dedicated workshops covering Ultra HD and Wireless Technology as part of the forthcoming Tech Forum, taking place on day two of the event (Thursday 27th November) at the Grange Tower Bridge Hotel, London. These two workshops, led by CEDIA’s Education Director, Simon Buddle and featuring subject matter experts from within the CEDIA community, will each comprise four separate sessions, and allow installers to explore these significant topics in greater depth and detail. Attendees will gain hands-on experience with real product, experience the functionality aspects of relative approaches and be able to prove and disprove misconceptions. They will also get the chance to also probe, question and explore the products’ capabilities and particular manufacturer claims. The Ultra HD workshop will look at Ultra HD and beyond. It will start by looking at HDMI 2.0 and HDCP updates and specifically their data rates. It will also include audio in the matrix world (including ARC), 3D & lip-synching, HDBaseT, H265 and other transmission technologies. In the Wireless workshop Frequency vs. Wavelength vs. Data rate will be covered in the first session followed by a session asking 802.11ac - what does it deliver?’. It will then move on to testing wireless, channel & spectrum analysis and ping vs. throughput measurement. Finally, a session entitled 'Fit for purpose' will look at which services can be expected to reliably work over wireless. Each workshop will commence at 9.30am with a welcome session from CEDIA, introducing the speakers and topics. From 10:15am-13:00pm, sessions in both Ultra HD and Wireless technology will run in parallel before breaking for lunch, followed by an open forum discussion. On Day One of the Tech Forum, event sponsors AWE, Crestron, Future Automation, Habitech, HDanywhere, Invision, Leaf, Pulse Marketing, Savant Systems Europe and Wyrestorm will be hosting brand specific product training across a variety of subjects. Installers will also be able to book places to attend a CEDIA keynote presentation, delivered this year by global technology consultant, Maria Ingold, and the annual CEDIA AGM taking place in the early evening on Wednesday 26th November, CEDIA members and non-members who wish to attend day two of the CEDIA Tech Forum can purchase tickets online at www.cedia.co.uk/cedia-events.
