DTS has launched a new feature allowing homeowners to use DTS Play-Fi powered devices as their Preferred Speaker in an Alexa Smart Home Group.
To use this new function, homeowners need to select their preferred Amazon Alexa device using the Amazon Alexa App, meaning users do not need to refer to the device’s name when giving voice commands. For example, a voice command such as “Alexa, play my playlist” will link to the preferred device and initiate playback on the associated DTS Play-Fi speaker.
“We are excited to share this feature through the wide breadth of DTS Play-Fi powered devices,” said Dannie Lau, general manager, DTS Play-Fi. “With this new ability, customers worldwide now have a simpler way of playing their music on their preferred speakers throughout their Alexa smart home.”
This function is available now on all certified “Works with Alexa” DTS Play-Fi products. It has also expanded beyond the previously announced regions of the US, UK and Germany and is now available through DTS Play-Fi wherever Alexa is available, including France, Canada, Australia, Japan, Italy, Spain, Mexico and India.
There are now 37 DTS Play-Fi devices that are “Works with Alexa” certified with more to be announced soon.
