Gira is introducing a range of new products throughout 2020 for the home automation market, spanning innovations in design, door entry and communication, the eNet SMART HOME and KNX system technologies.
The company, which
announced a change of brand identity last week, has recognised the growing home automation market and has decided to make the sector one of its focuses for 2020.
“As a global innovator of intelligent electrical specification products, we are well-placed to be introducing a collection of new innovations to the UK in 2020, despite the postponement of our launch event (Light+Building Frankfurt) to later this year,” said Mark Booth, managing director at Gira UK.
“We have to ensure we’re in a position now to respond to the increased appetite for home-efficient solutions and provide the end user with greater insight and control over the functionality, energy efficiency and personal gains of a building.”
Building intelligence
Consumer trends recognise ease of use as being a growth area this year, as many invest in more interconnected devices (IoT) as well as wanting the benefits associated with sensor technology, one-system platforms with multi-device capabilities, and digital assistants like Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa to control their home environment.
Responding to these trends, Gira is debuting new product solutions for the eNet SMART HOME that can be retrofitted flexibly in existing buildings as well as new build developments. The company is introducing new ways to operate lighting, blinds and heating, as well as enabling design-led connectivity to one or more devices to enable user convenience.
The Gira G1 is not only suitable as an operating device for a KNX installation with the Gira X1 or Gira HomeServer, but also for controlling the eNet SMART HOME. In this way, it becomes an intelligent central operating unit in any smart home and is equally suitable for modernisation projects, retrofits, and new builds.
In addition to this, the KNX System is also to reveal a range of new solution by Gira this year, which include control sensors, motion and presence detectors, comprehensive software updates, security mechanisms and a dynamic collection of switch and blind actuators. These new solutions have been designed to create a benchmark of data integrity, encryption and development for the KNX systems and the connected home.
Booth commented: “The progression of KNX system technology throughout the home has made linking devices much less complicated, so that a variety of devices can now share one single, simple network and work together as required. Consequently in 2020, we will offer more ways to control and influence different protocols via KNX, depending on the type of smart living experience the end user aspires to.”
Door entry & communication
Home security is another growing segment of the home automation market with modular design solutions for intelligent building management being a big trend in 2020.
Gira’s new door communication systems will focus on this trend and offer secure door entry to both the home and the individual. The new innovations being introduced will also present new colour variants and network-based systems with individual configuration, through to DSC resources and optimal software updates.
Design innovations
Design is a hugely important aspect in a home and again, this has been recognised by Gira as a growing trend in 2020 and beyond.
The Gira Standard 55 is a simple but high-quality design line for basic installation. Flexible by design, the Standard 55 is available in three colours and it can be expanded as required, via the Gira System 55 with 300 functional inserts available.
Recognising the rising demand for attractive, user-friendly controls, Gira is launching a series of new finishes and colours across two of its best-selling design lines, Gira Esprit and Gira E2. The two ranges offer access to over 300 intelligent building functions via Gira System 55 and embody the best in systematic design.
Dirk Giersiepen, Gira’s managing partner, concluded: “Every innovation can only ever be a response, a response to what drives each and every product development: people.”
The company’s new 2020 products and applications are able to be viewed on the
Gira website, along with its new brand identity.
