Hisense wants to make 'budget' OLED TVs a reality

OLED technology is certainly great, but the one drawback some would admit it has is that it's not cheap to own. Hisense hope to change this with a TV launch it has planned for Q4 of 2018.

Chinese manufacturer Hisense are keeping things old school when it comes to how it will differentiate its OLED TV from the rest… by reducing the price tag.

The TV manufacturer, the biggest of its kind in China, showcased its first OLED model at IFA in Berlin this month, following a sneak preview of the TV at CES in January.

Details are scarce at the moment, but we know that the TV will incorporate an LG panel, with 4K expected to be a given, and HDR a possible.

The TV’s official launch is scheduled for late 2018 (only in Australia however, with other countries set to follow in Q1 of 2019) and will be targeting the ‘entry’ level space when it comes to pricing (aka similar to the likes of Toshiba, or less).

Hisense also showcased two (55- and 65-in) ULED televisions (multiple display technologies packaged up as ‘Ultra LED’), expected for 2019 at the show.

At CEDIA 2018, it focused on introducing the latest versions of its 100-in laser smart TV with the L8E and L10E series.
