Legrand UK focuses on IoT with development programme

Legrand has introduced its 'Eliot' development programme dedicated to facilitating greater communication between its devices in the UK, following its US launch.

In response to the growing presence of IoT in homes, the manufacturer’s Eliot scheme will work to improve how its line of AV equipment, door entry systems and lighting controls communicate with each other.

Legrand will also focus on bringing new connected devices to market, particularly focused on home automation, assisted living, security and lighting control.

With security a prime concern of consumers, the company has stated it will ensure the confidentiality of user data by using a ‘highly secure’ cloud-based system and complying with local regulations.

Tony Greig, CEO of Legrand UK & Ireland, commented: “The Internet of Things is opening up a new era for the built environment through the industrial, commercial and domestic marketplaces and we are playing our part in that. The Eliot programme helps us to respond to the evolving needs of our customers and to enrich their daily lives through an as yet unseen level of communication between our products and customers.”

He added: What’s more, the simplicity of these products and their ease of use and installation, makes the connected home an achievable reality for every step of the property ladder.”
